About The Position

The Receiving Clerk is responsible for accurately and promptly processing all incoming shipments, verifying product details, and maintaining organized inventory records. This role ensures proper documentation and storage of goods, fueling efficient warehouse and supply chain operations. West Marine is a Drug-Free and Equal Opportunity Employer.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Willing to submit to a criminal background check
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen

Responsibilities

• Follow all safety protocols while handling shipments. Report hazards or incidents to management immediately.
• Communicate with vendors regarding delivery schedules, discrepancies, or issues. Collaborate with other departments, such as purchasing and inventory control, to ensure timely and accurate processing of shipments. Maintain clear and organized records of all received goods and related documentation.
• Receive and process shipment documentation from carriers. Review deliveries for accuracy and condition, comparing items against purchase orders and packing lists. Sign for deliveries and ensure proper documentation is completed.
• Update inventory records in the Warehouse Management System (WMS) or other tracking systems. Organize and store received items in designated warehouse locations. Assist in periodic inventory counts and audits to maintain accurate stock levels.
• Inspect goods for damages or discrepancies and report issues to the appropriate department. Process returns for incorrect or unsatisfactory items. Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in the receiving area.
• Maintain a clean and organized assigned work area at all times during your scheduled shift.
