The Receiving Assistant is responsible for assisting the Receiving Manager in the successful operation of the receiving department. This role involves providing world-class customer service, maintaining integrity, responsibility, and excellence, and adhering to all policies. The assistant will help accurately receive all incoming products, including checking dates, accuracy, and damage. They will scan all incoming and outgoing product, stage products for efficient delivery to the sales floor, and process various paperwork such as POs, RPOs, mispicks, and invoices accurately and timely. The position also requires researching and processing discrepancies, communicating delivery issues and vendor out-of-stocks with department managers, and following up on special orders. Operating a forklift and pallet jack may be required. A clean and organized back room is essential, and the assistant will work with department managers to address performance issues. Supporting store opening and closing activities, including Daily Sales Report (DSR) and cash handling, is also part of the role. Handling register functions, including backup cashiering, managing customer returns, addressing complaints, and covering register shifts, is expected. Maintaining the safety and security of customers and employees is paramount. The role includes assisting in training and monitoring department personnel, assigning and following up on tasks, and taking initiative to provide additional help and backup in the store, including on the sales floor when receiving duties are complete. Answering customer questions according to company standards, including using Structure/Function statements and/or statements of nutritional support, and continually increasing product knowledge are key. Proficiency in SAP, inventory management software, email, and other IS programs is necessary. The schedule is based on store needs and includes evenings, weekends, and holidays. This position requires working five days, 40 hours per week, and attending mandatory store meetings. While there is limited Manager on Duty responsibility, this role is never intended to be the overall Manager on Duty for the store. All employees are expected to be "hands on" and do whatever it takes to get the job done and make the company thrive.
