About The Position

This is a shift-based role for a Recaust/CTO/Demin/Evaps Operator in the recovery & utilities area of the Port Wentworth Mill. The operator will be responsible for running mill production equipment, monitoring the process to ensure high-quality product, and troubleshooting problems. The role requires flexibility, reliability, and the ability to perform physical duties such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials. The operator will also be responsible for monitoring, adjusting, and controlling operating equipment, conducting tests and inspections, and attending various meetings. This position has overtime requirements.

Requirements

  • Previous mill experience is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old at the start of employment.
  • Must have either a high school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work shift work, including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work safely and follow complex directions in oral, written and electronic formats.
  • Ability to be successful in a team-based, high-performance work environment.
  • Ability to work at heights, on ladders and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to pass drug screens & a background check.
  • Ability to use MS office, including email, word and excel.
  • Ability to work well with teams.
  • Strong desire for career advancement.
  • Ability to learn through self-study.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge base of the following certifications: Woodyard, Recaust, Demin, Evaps, CTO, Recovery/Power Boiler. Successful candidates are expected to obtain these mill certifications within a reasonable timeframe.

Responsibilities

  • Running mill production equipment, specifically in the recovery & utilities area.
  • Monitoring the process to support the production of a high-quality product.
  • Following detailed written and verbal procedures.
  • Troubleshooting problems.
  • Climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
  • Monitoring, adjusting, and controlling operating equipment.
  • Conducting tests and inspections of products or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Attending PIT meetings, morning crew meetings, and other meetings as scheduled.
