About The Position

Are you a safety-conscious driver looking for a stable, full-time career with great pay, benefits, and the chance to be home every night? Hood River Garbage, a Waste Connections Company, is looking for a reliable and motivated Rear Load Garbage Truck Driver to join our team in Hood River, OR. Previous waste industry experience is a big plus—but not required. We’re happy to train the right person! The schedule is Monday–Friday, from 6am-2:30pm, depending on route. The starting pay $36.59/hr, with an increase to $37.87/hr after a 90-day review.

Requirements

Valid Class B CDL with air brakes endorsement required
Clean driving record (please bring a copy of your MVR to the in-person interview)
Minimum 1 year of relevant driving experience
Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
Safety-Sensitive – YES (Drug Test Required)

Nice To Haves

Previous waste industry experience
Class A CDL Preferred
Ability to operate 10-, 13-, and 18-speed transmissions
High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Responsibilities

Safely operate a garbage truck on designated routes to collect solid waste.
Read route sheets and service each customer listed or assigned by the dispatcher.
Perform routine inspections and maintenance on vehicles, including checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
Perform a physically demanding job, including loading and unloading, sometimes without assistance.
Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift and load refuse and dispose of trash at designated facilities.
Interact courteously with customers and perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
