About The Position

Procures cost effective wholesale power for SRP retail load on a "next hour" basis. Sells wholesale power to other utilities and power marketers on a "next hour" basis. Identifies, negotiates and executes wholesale purchases and associated sales when opportunities for arbitrage exit. Coordinates generating unit commitment plans to optimize the use of acquired gas supply while minimizing fuel and purchased power expenses. Identifies and secures cost effective transmission paths to facilitate wholesale power transactions. Coordinates emergency actions related to wholesale power transactions. Complies with all applicable FERC, WECC, and NERC policies and standards, including the exchange of electronic tagging information (ETAGS) with all counterparties.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Real Time Power Trader, Power Dispatcher, Power Plant Control Room Operator, Power Accounting Specialist, Engineering Technician, Design Engineer, or other relevant experience is required.
  • Requires up to two (2) years of relevant experience (for Level I – Associate).
  • Requires a minimum of two (2) years and less than five (5) years of relevant experience (for Level II – Journey).
  • Requires five (5) or more years of relevant experience (for Level III – Senior).
  • All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer experience in MS Apps, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Completion of an Associate's degree, Apprenticeship, or 60 college credit hours related to the position from an accredited is preferred.
  • Completion of Power Plant Control Room Operator Training may substitute for the education requirement.
