About The Position

The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) Driver and Motor Vehicles Division (DMV) is seeking a Real ID Specialist for their Field Services Group in the Mt. Hood Region, specifically in Gladstone. This role is a limited duration appointment, expected to end on or before June 30, 2027, with the potential to become permanent. The specialist will assist the public in obtaining Real ID compliant identification cards, answer questions related to the Real ID Act, and provide customer service for Oregonians seeking compliant documents. Requirements

  • Two years of public contact/customer service experience involving in-person or phone interaction to provide information about services/programs or explain/apply rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Experience or training using computers to retrieve and input data.
  • Three months of experience collecting money and making change.
  • Must be able to type at least 30 words per minute with a high level of accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the public with obtaining Real ID compliant identification cards, instruction permits, or licenses.
  • Serve as a primary representative for Real ID transactions in the office.
  • Accurately produce photo licenses, instruction permits, and identification cards.
  • Administer, correct, and explain driver license knowledge tests.
  • Conduct vision tests.
  • Explain state and federal requirements for various driver and identification transactions.
  • Provide exceptional customer service while adhering to privacy laws.
  • Communicate clearly with customers from diverse backgrounds to answer complex questions.
  • Collaborate with office leaders and managers to ensure efficient operations for issuing Real ID.
  • Examine documents for eligibility prior to issuing credentials.
  • Prepare daily reports and balance transactions at the end of each day.
  • Travel to other offices in the region to perform relief work.
  • Type at least 30 words per minute with a high level of accuracy.
