AIR Communities is seeking a driven, analytical, and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Real Estate Accounting team. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Internship experience, public accounting experience, or 1-3 years of relevant accounting experience
  • Experience preparing journal entries, accruals, reclassifications, and account reconciliations
  • Experience performing balance sheet reconciliations
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and comfort working with financial systems
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Outstanding attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

Nice To Haves

  • Experience performing budget-to-actual or forecast variance analysis
  • Experience with debt accounting or debt reconciliations
  • Real estate accounting experience
  • Experience with SmartView
  • Experience with Workday Financials
  • CPA track or interest in pursuing professional accounting certifications

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries related to the monthly close process
  • Assist in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records and reporting
  • Record accruals, reclassifications, prepaid expenses, and other recurring accounting transactions
  • Support timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual balance sheet reconciliations
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies while maintaining strong internal controls
  • Monitor account activity to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial data
  • Manage debt-related reconciliations and supporting schedules
  • Perform actual-to-budget and actual-to-forecast variance analysis
  • Prepare financial analyses, roll-forwards, and supporting schedules
  • Assist with preparation, review, and distribution of financial reports
  • Provide meaningful insights that support operational and financial decision-making
  • Manage prepaid expense schedules and related accounting entries
  • Maintain fixed asset and intangible asset records
  • Record monthly depreciation and amortization activities
  • Ensure proper classification and tracking of company assets
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to gather information and improve processes
  • Support accounting initiatives and process improvement opportunities
  • Contribute ideas that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and overall team performance
  • Provide exceptional internal customer service while building strong working relationships
