About The Position
The Houston office of McGuire Woods seeks an Associate to join its Public & Private Infrastructure & Real Estate Department. This role can also be based in their Dallas or Austin offices. The real estate group at McGuire Woods handles matters across the United States and abroad, representing a diverse clientele including real estate investors, developers, financial institutions, Fortune 100 corporations, and other businesses where real estate is a significant concern. They handle all aspects of real estate transactions, including acquisition, financing, planning, zoning, construction, leasing, and sale. McGuire Woods is recognized as a top-tier law firm, with its real estate and land use practices highly regarded by Chambers USA and U.S. News & World Report. Requirements
- 3 - 5 years of law firm Real Estate & Land Use experience.
- Expertise in real estate finance, acquisitions and dispositions, leasing, development, and other sophisticated commercial real estate transactions (both single asset and multi-asset).
- Experience in drafting.
- Strong communication skills.
- Thorough understanding of title, survey, and other commercial real estate due diligence.
- Strong academic record.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interact with client, business, and legal teams.
- Willingness and desire to work with innovative technology platforms.
Nice To Haves
- Experience preferably in a sophisticated national law firm environment.
- Experience on the real estate aspects of renewable and conventional energy project acquisition and development.
Responsibilities
- Handle real estate transactions across the United States and abroad.
- Represent clients in acquisition, financing, planning, zoning, construction, leasing, and sale of real estate.
- Engage with client, business, and legal teams.
- Work with innovative technology platforms, including Harvey AI, to accelerate research, streamline document drafting, and enhance analytical work.
- Focus on higher-value strategic thinking and client engagement.
