About The Position

Drives truck equipped with a concrete mixer to deliver concrete mix to job sites. This role involves pre-trip inspections, charging the mixer with concrete, navigating to job sites, and safely maneuvering the truck in various ground conditions. The driver will also add necessary ingredients, place chutes for discharge, complete paperwork, collect money if necessary, and communicate with dispatch.

Requirements

  • Required Class A or B CDL or CDL Permit
  • High school diploma (minimum); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to pass Federal Department of Transportation drug screen and physical.
  • Maintain driving record in accordance with Federal and State Motor Carrier regulations and meet company policy requirements.
  • Ability to handle cash and make change.
  • Ability to deal with customers and other employees in a diplomatic manner, in a variety of stressful situations.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak in English.
  • Maintain Department of Transportation Health cond.

Responsibilities

  • Drives truck equipped with a concrete mixer to deliver concrete mix to job sites.
  • Performs pre-trip inspection of ready-mix truck pursuant to D.O.T. regulations.
  • Fills water tank before each delivery.
  • Charges mixer to receive concrete, ensuring all admixtures or other ancillary products on the delivery ticket are included.
  • Uses map book and experience to take the most direct route to job site for on-time delivery.
  • Safely maneuvers truck in often very unstable ground conditions upon arrival at the job site.
  • Adds necessary ingredients such as fibers, chemical admixtures, cement, or integral colors at the plant or job site, pursuant to customer needs.
  • Places chutes from fender or hanging rack onto the main chute at the rear of truck for discharge.
  • Completes all paperwork and collects money if necessary prior to leaving the job site.
  • Communicates with dispatch through the use of a two-way radio and a truck status signaling system.
  • Calls out each day for start time.
