About The Position

This position is for a Reading Teacher at Jaworek Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year. The salary will be based on the Teacher's Salary Scale, determined by education and experience. The Reading Teacher is directly responsible to the building Principal and jointly responsible to the Supervisor of Literacy K-12 and the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning. The role involves identifying students needing reading support, providing direct instruction, diagnosing deficiencies, prescribing remediation plans, and aligning instruction with the ELA program. The teacher will also participate in PLCs, team evaluations, and SSTs, promote independent reading, and collaborate with Title I, Special Education, EL staff, and Administrators. Responsibilities extend to instructional and general duties as directed by district leadership and school committee policies.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated classroom teaching experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed as a Teacher of Reading by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Massachusetts covering all grades K-5 preferred.
  • SEI Endorsement on License preferred.
  • M.Ed. in Reading preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish or Portuguese) Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies and selects students based on universal screeners, state assessments, and teacher input.
  • Provides direct instruction to students in reading.
  • Diagnoses reading deficiencies and prescribes a plan for remediation for identified students.
  • Aligns remedial instruction with the classroom ELA program and integrated services where possible.
  • Participates in PLCs, team evaluations, and SSTs as needed.
  • Promotes students’ interest in independent reading.
  • Works cooperatively with the Title I, Special Education, EL, and Administrators.
  • Is responsible for instructional and other general duties as indicated by the District Principal, the Supervisor of Literacy K-12, the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning, directives of the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designees, and policies of the Marlborough School Committee.
