About The Position

This position is for a Reading Specialist for a program running from July 6, 2026, to July 30, 2026. The program operates on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at Roberto Clemente School. The role requires an individual with a New Jersey Reading Specialist certificate, a master's degree, and excellent experience in teaching and working with children. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong knowledge of child development, instructional strategies, classroom management, assessment, and learning research. Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and a valid driver's license are also required. This position is pending budget approval and student registration.

Requirements

  • Hold a New Jersey Reading Specialist certificate
  • Must hold a master's degree from an accredited college
  • Have excellent experience in teaching and working with children
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learning
  • Exhibit a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary
  • Hold a valid driver's license with no serious violations
  • Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of the content field when holding a content specific teaching responsibility on the elementary level
  • Meet such alternatives to above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable

Responsibilities

  • Provide reading specialist services during the program dates.
  • Work with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learning.
