About The Position

Conservatory Lab Charter School empowers a diverse range of children in preschool through eighth grade as scholars, artists, and leaders through a unique and rigorous academic and music education. We enrich the larger community through performance, service, and collaboration. As a laboratory school, we develop and disseminate innovative educational approaches that will positively impact children in other schools and programs. The reading specialist supports students struggling with reading. The reading specialist will implement research based reading interventions to support students in building proficiency. The ideal candidate will have experience with rules based reading. Conservatory Lab Charter School seeks individuals who are passionate about supporting students to meet their full potential. We seek motivated, insightful individuals are excited to collaborate with content teachers to plan and implement learning experiences that advance the intellectual, social, emotional and physical development of students. The ideal candidate will have experience analyzing student needs, designing experiences to support student learning, supporting implementation of accommodations to access grade level content. The ideal candidate has experience meeting the needs of students with IEPs. The reading specialist may assist in establishing reading goals and strategies to master foundational reading skills to build mastery.

Requirements

  • Reading specialist
  • Experience working in an urban environment
  • Special education license
  • Bilingual - Spanish, Cape Verdean Creole, Haitian Creole
  • Ability to work closely and collaborate on a professional team
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong oral communication skills
  • Flexible and able to work in a fast paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Establish success plans for students struggling with reading
  • Partner with lead teacher to support optimal learning environment for students
  • Co-plan lessons with academic teachers to support student learning
  • Write IEP goals
  • Conduct learning assessments
  • Attend all IEP meetings in accordance with assigned students
  • Consult with academic teachers to design and support implementation of students’ accommodations
  • Lead small group and individual instruction using identified scientific, research based interventions focused specifically on individual student difficulties
  • Maintain records of interventions and progress monitoring to ensure fidelity of implementation
  • Assist the lead teacher in maintaining two-way communication with families, including attending team/parent meetings as required
  • Assist with universal screening of students
  • Assist with all testing accommodations
  • Supervise student groups as assigned by the schedule
  • Utilize feedback to reflect on skills and improve performance to improve supports for students
  • Perform related duties as requested to support a safe learning environment
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Principal or designee
