About The Position

Reading Interventionist Teaching Matters Here Prelude Prep is a tuition-free public charter school serving students in Pre-K through 8th grade in San Antonio. We believe every child can learn to read and that strong literacy skills open doors to future success. We are looking for a Reading Interventionist who is passionate about helping students overcome reading challenges, build confidence, and make meaningful academic growth. Whether you are an experienced interventionist, classroom teacher, tutor, or literacy specialist, we are looking for someone who understands the importance of foundational reading skills and is committed to helping students succeed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • Eligibility to work in the United States
  • A belief that every student can learn to read
  • Strong understanding of foundational literacy instruction
  • Experience teaching beginning readers or struggling readers
  • Patience, persistence, and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A growth mindset and willingness to receive feedback
  • Professionalism, reliability, and initiative
  • A passion for helping students achieve more than they thought possible

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching reading, literacy intervention, tutoring, or elementary education
  • Experience working with struggling readers
  • Knowledge of foundational literacy instruction and the science of reading
  • Experience using student data to drive instruction
  • Dyslexia training or certification is a plus but not required

Responsibilities

  • Deliver small-group and individualized reading intervention
  • Provide systematic instruction in foundational literacy skills, including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension
  • Monitor student progress and use data to adjust instruction
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to support student growth
  • Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress
  • Maintain accurate records of student intervention services and progress monitoring
  • Participate actively in coaching, planning, and professional development
  • Contribute positively to the culture and mission of the school
