About The Position

Independence Mission Schools (IMS) is seeking a Part-Time Reading Interventionist for middle school students at St. Martin de Porres School for the 2026-2027 School Year. This role focuses on supporting students who need additional assistance in reading and foundational literacy skills. The interventionist will collaborate with teachers to reinforce classroom instruction and provide targeted interventions. The goal is to help students improve their reading skills, build confidence, and achieve academic success. The ideal candidate will have experience with diverse learners, strong collaboration skills, and a passion for student growth.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree (required)
Clearances on all required background checks (required)
Experience teaching diverse learners and differentiating instruction (preferred)
A track record of leading students to successfully achieve high expectations (preferred)
Experience working with children and communities in an urban setting (preferred)

Responsibilities

Assess student progress in reading.
Develop and implement tailored instructional strategies.
Work primarily with small groups of students.
Provide one-on-one support as needed.
Reinforce and extend classroom instruction.
Model outstanding character in accordance with Catholic teachings.
Set high behavioral and academic expectations for students.
Measure and use student growth data to inform instruction.
Actively participate in the school community by lending skills and interests to coaching and moderating extracurricular activities.
