About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Reading Aide to join our team at Nottingham School. This part-time position (5.5 hours daily) is designed for individuals who are passionate about supporting students' literacy development and fostering a positive learning environment. The Reading Aide will work closely with teachers and students to enhance reading skills, provide individualized support, and help create an engaging atmosphere for learning.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in education, literacy, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of reading development and effective instructional strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting student learning.
  • Basic proficiency in using technology and educational software.
  • Availability to work part-time hours as scheduled.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing reading programs and interventions for students struggling with literacy.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group instruction to reinforce reading skills and comprehension strategies.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as needed.
  • Create a supportive and encouraging environment that promotes a love for reading.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and adapt instructional materials to meet diverse student needs.
  • Assist in maintaining an organized and resourceful reading area, including managing books and materials.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities to enhance instructional practices.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to foster a positive school community.
