React/Node Developer Intern (Summer 2027)

About The Position

Dev Technology Group is seeking talented rising juniors and seniors for their Summer 2027 Internship Program, based at their headquarters in Reston, Virginia. This internship offers a valuable opportunity for individuals to gain professional experience in software development, sysadmin, DevOps, or related fields. Interns will work on a dynamic software development project supporting a government client, contributing to improved software development outcomes and participating in various aspects of an Agile software development project. Additionally, interns will collaborate on a technical project with the rest of the internship team, presenting their findings to the executive team at the program's conclusion. Past intern projects have included developing web applications, designing mobile applications, and creating technical environments. Interns will practice Agile methodology by participating in Scrum-related meetings, analyze system issues by researching code, develop government web pages using JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML/CSS, and React, and conduct external software testing. They will also be responsible for writing and maintaining user guide documentation and attending corporate-level meetings to learn about different business areas.

Requirements

  • Rising juniors and seniors working toward a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field are preferred
  • Experience with React UI
  • Experience with Node.js
  • Experience with AWS Cloud Tools
  • Ability to understand complex business processes and how they relate to the systems supporting them
  • Ability to research problems, identify a root cause, and recommend and implement a solution
  • Aptitude for picking up technology quickly, along with a desire to learn and progress
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to collaborate with team members to ensure client needs and expectations are met or exceeded
  • Demonstrates a passion for solving complex software challenges and enjoys working in team collaboration
  • Must be able to commute to the Reston, Virginia office a minimum of 2 days a week
  • US citizenship required
  • Must be able to obtain a public trust clearance or higher as required

Nice To Haves

  • Rising senior (strongly preferred)
  • Experience with AWS Cloud Tools (preferred)
  • Experience with Jest, React-Testing Library, Mocha, Chai, and Sinon (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Java (preferred)
  • Experience with AWS Lambda (preferred)
  • Experience with the SPA concept and libraries (preferred)
  • Experience with agile and DevOps tools, such as Git, Jenkins, Maven, Ansible, and JUnit (preferred)
  • Experience in writing SQL and working with relational database structures, PostgreSQL, and/or DynamoDB (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Practice Agile methodology by attending all Scrum-related meetings, such as daily stand-ups, weekly sprint planning, and weekly retros
  • Conduct an analysis of system issues raised by end-users by researching the code
  • Develop government web pages using JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML/CSS, and React
  • Work with fellow summer interns on a technically focused project and present the group's results to the executive team at the end of the program
  • Conduct external software testing
  • Write and maintain user guide documentation
  • Attend corporate-level meetings to learn about other areas of the business, such as business development, finance, and project management
