About The Position

Home Chef is seeking a Reach Truck Operator for their night shift operations. This role is crucial for managing the movement and organization of pallets within the facility, ensuring efficient FEFO/FIFO rotation, and handling outbound loading. The operator will be responsible for maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient work environment in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Home Chef's commitment to safety and quality.

Requirements

  • Previous experience using standup counterbalance forklift / reach truck preferred.
  • General high school degree, or equivalent (e.g. GED).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure inbound trailers are safely secured before unloading.
  • Unload pallets and stage them in designated areas for receiving and QA inspection.
  • Palletize mixed products onto separate pallets for inspection and receipt.
  • Scan pallets upon completion of receipt, ensuring they have the correct QA sticker and Receiving License Plate, and that the License Plate is fully completed.
  • Haul tagged pallets to the correct storage location.
  • Rotate older pallets of like product down from elevated storage locations into the selection position and place newly received pallets in elevated storage locations.
  • Keep the dock clear of debris by cleaning up while working.
  • Keep pallets and receiving tools organized on the dock.
  • Verify all products being issued to production teams against drop lists, production sheets, or boxing call outs.
  • Keep production drop zones stocked per guidelines.
  • Keep drop zones clean, organized, and free of debris or broken pallets.
  • Ensure all returned pallets are not mixed and boxes are taped and labeled per food safety requirements.
  • Ensure outbound trailers are safely secured and inspected for debris, holes, pests, or temperature deviations prior to loading.
  • Identify pallets to be loaded from the applicable staging area.
  • Load pallets and complete load diagrams accurately.
  • Seal trucks and turn load diagrams in to lead/supervisor for driver pickup.
  • Remove the safety device once paperwork is turned in.
  • Keep the shipping dock clear of debris by cleaning up while working.
  • Keep pallets and shipping tools organized on the dock.
  • Ensure all products go back to the proper location after use.
  • Keep items grouped together for easier location of product.
  • Ensure no mixed pallets in storage or pick bays.
  • Use the reach truck to pull down existing pallets in higher elevations to put the newest product in those double or drive in locations PRIOR to placing newly received product in those storage locations.
  • Proactively ensure older products are rotated down to floor selection/pick positions.
  • Proactively keep selection/pick positions replenished.
  • Remove broken pallets or empty pallets from selection bins.
  • Sort broken pallets from usable ones, stacking usable pallets in quantities of 10-15 and wrapping them.
  • Wrap all bad pallets in red or designated color and place on a pallet trailer or designated area.
  • Place good stacks of pallets in racks together for ease of counting.
  • Assist with preparing all products on pallets for hold, donations, resale, or returning to the vendor, including stacking, wrapping, tagging, and hauling.
  • Assist with completing any function needed for the company to deliver finished goods to the customer, including using other certified equipment, performing all warehouse tasks, or assisting other departments.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including performing pre-shift equipment checks and wearing required PPE.
  • Follow facility GMPs and help enforce them.
  • Sign for all equipment needed and ensure it is signed back in upon completion of shift.
  • Support the efforts of the company to maintain the food safety system (SQF) and quality programs.
  • Be respectful of others and carry themselves in a professional manner.
