About The Position

Blizzard Entertainment is looking for a re-recording mixer to work in the award-winning Cinematic Audio department. The ideal candidate needs to have extensive experience in mixing, sound editing and mastering for linear media, and will work closely with the Cinematic Audio Director, Producers, Editors, and other stakeholders to bring their characters, creatures, and environments to life in cinematics and trailers. Candidates should be comfortable collaborating with game designers to create an audio experience that compliments the online gameplay trailers, BlizzCon media, prerendered cinematics, in-game and real time cutscenes. This person must have an outstanding ability to not only create excellent, original content, but to successfully utilize ProTools and various mixing, mastering, and design plug-ins. This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The potential home studio for this role is Irvine, CA. However, we understand each person’s circumstances may be unique and will work with you to explore other possible options, including remote work arrangements. This is a 12-month temporary position.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in re-recording mixing and sound design for linear media in the film, games, trailers, or advertising fields
  • Experience designing and editing sound-to-picture
  • Experience with mixing in stereo and multichannel audio
  • Proven people skills and a unique artistic "voice" in terms of communicating and furthering a storyline via the medium of sound
  • Ability to forge and maintain positive client relationships as well as communicate effectively with a wide range of clients, Directors, Editors, contractors, Producers, and Supervisors
  • Thorough working knowledge of ProTools for audio post-production and mixing
  • Working knowledge of various video codecs and frame rates and their specific uses
  • Knowledge of signal flow, microphones, voice/Foley/field recording
  • Able to work with equal effectiveness with a high degree of self-motivation, both solo and as part of a project team

Nice To Haves

  • Experience mixing in Atmos using the Dolby Atmos renderer
  • Experience developing games that use Wwise
  • Mixing on an Avid S6
  • Experience with live recording sessions both in the studio and in the field
  • Game audio design and/or mixing credits
  • Experience with Evercast, ClearView, or other high-quality remote collaboration tools
