About The Position

LSS Re-Entry Services is seeking a Re-Entry Coach who has the desire to help justice involved individuals develop skills, become independent and successfully transition back into the community. Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota (LSS) offers Re-Entry Services to help individuals transition from correctional facilities, group homes, or treatment programs back into their communities. These programs are designed to address the unique needs of people re-entering society, with a focus on personal development, rehabilitation, and community integration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, plus one year experience working in human service environment; or equivalent combination of higher education and experience, is required
  • Must be able to complete orientation training according to agency program standards.
  • Be at least 21 years old and willing to complete agency background checks.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license or obtain one with approved driver status.
  • Must successfully complete all agency background checks, which include checks to detect criminal convictions of behavior harmful towards children, spousal abuse, and drug or sex crimes.

  • Preferred experience working with justice involved individuals, trauma informed care and adult case management.

Responsibilities

  • Supports justice-involved individuals transitioning from incarceration back into the community by providing individualized coaching, identifying barriers, and connecting clients to appropriate resources.
  • Assesses client needs, coordinates and connects individuals to appropriate community resources, and delivers ongoing coaching in key areas of re-entry such as housing, employment, and life skills.
  • Develops and supports case plans.
  • Maintains regular contact with clients and their supervising officers.
  • Facilitates evidence-based programming.
  • Collaborates with community partners.
  • Participates in outreach efforts.
  • Ensures accurate, timely documentation and data tracking in required systems.
