About The Position

This role manages the closing and funding process for mortgage loans that have been cleared to close. Responsibilities include verifying loan information, issuing the Initial Closing Disclosure, preparing and delivering closing documents to borrowers and settlement agents, and preparing each file for funding. After documents are signed, the role involves coordinating with the title company to obtain the complete closing package, reviewing executed legal documents for accuracy, confirming all underwriting conditions have been satisfied, and wiring funds to escrow companies. The position also involves assisting members throughout the process or connecting them with the appropriate resource when needed.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or an equivalent combination of formal mortgage industry training and experience.
  • Three to five years of related mortgage experience.
  • Proficiency in closing and funding government, construction, and conventional loans.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage requirements, procedures, underwriting criteria, and applicable regulations.
  • Well organized, detail-oriented, and able to learn quickly, meet deadlines, and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and member service skills.
  • Proficiency with computer applications and standard business equipment.
  • Working knowledge of basic math.
  • Ability to analyze and process financial information accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the closing and funding process for mortgage loans.
  • Verify loan information.
  • Issue the Initial Closing Disclosure.
  • Prepare and deliver closing documents to borrowers and settlement agents.
  • Prepare each file for funding.
  • Coordinate with the title company to obtain the complete closing package.
  • Review executed legal documents for accuracy.
  • Confirm all underwriting conditions have been satisfied.
  • Wire funds to escrow companies.
  • Assist members throughout the process or connect them with the appropriate resource.
  • Ensure fees, credits, and liabilities are balanced.
  • Ensure Closing Disclosures and closing documents are complete and accurate.
  • Ensure executed packages satisfy all prior-to-fund conditions.
  • Calculate, approve, request, and reconcile wire amounts.
  • Register applicable transactions through MERS.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and current loan files and records.
  • Keep loan officers, processors, escrow companies, and other partners informed.
  • Work with third-party vendors to obtain required documentation.
  • Research and resolve questions, discrepancies, funding or purchasing concerns, and post-closing issues promptly and courteously.
  • Provide appropriate updates to management and other stakeholders.
  • Stay current on procedural and policy changes.
  • Communicate updates to the department.
  • Help maintain closing and funding instructions and manuals.
  • Build strong working relationships with members, mortgage professionals, escrow and title partners, colleagues, and management.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable schedule.
  • Attend required meetings.
  • Provide coverage for absent team members.
  • Keep work area secure and organized.
  • Assist manager with projects as needed.
