RCP RRT: Respiratory Care Department
About The Position
The Respiratory Care Department is seeking an RCP RRT to perform all respiratory care modalities in the treatment of pulmonary disease and disorders. This role adheres to all department and hospital required licenses, certifications, and regulatory agency requirements. The position involves performing bedside diagnostic tests and assessments to evaluate the extent of pulmonary dysfunction, managing and monitoring mechanical ventilation and artificial airways, and participating in cardiac arrest/respiratory arrest code situations, including assisting with intubation. The RCP RRT will maintain a working knowledge of department standard operating procedures, including the use of specialized instrumentation, Quality Control requirements, and preventive maintenance, as well as specialized equipment and related computer systems. The role requires projecting an image of professionalism in communication, appearance, and conduct, supporting the department mission, and participating in the continuous quality improvement process. The position may require travel between various Hoag Hospital locations and its affiliates, and the incumbent will perform other duties as assigned. For the Home Health aspect, the role performs all respiratory care modalities, bedside diagnostic tests, and assessments. It requires maintaining a working knowledge of department standard operating procedures and specialized respiratory equipment, projecting professionalism, supporting the department mission, and participating in continuous quality improvement. This position requires travel to patient homes for respiratory therapy visits and performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited Respiratory Care program required.
- Current license to practice respiratory care issued by the Respiratory Care Board of California (RCP)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential verified and granted by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC), must remain current for the entire term of employment
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification granted by the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) granted by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Department certification in arterial puncture, arterial blood gas analysis, and performance of ECGs
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Care, Health Services Management, or related studies preferred.
- Previous experience as an RCP practicing in the acute care patient setting preferred.
- Adult Critical Care Specialist (ACCS), Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS), Certified or Registered Pulmonary Function Testing (CPFT or RPFT)
- STABLE Certification
