About The Position

Zurich is seeking an RCIS Crop Claims Field Adjuster I or a Crop Claims Specialist to join their Rural Community Insurance Services (RCIS) team. RCIS is a significant provider of crop insurance, serving farmers and ranchers across the United States. This role will be based out of Kansas and Oklahoma, with the incumbent working from a home-based office. The position requires approximately 50% travel to cover the designated territory. The ideal candidate will reside in and service specific counties within Kansas (Hamilton, Kearney, Finney, Hodgeman, Stanton, Grant, Haskell, Gray, Ford, Morton, Stevens, Seward, Meade, Clark) and Oklahoma (Cimarron, Texas, Beaver, Harper). This is an opportunity to contribute to the agricultural community by managing crop insurance claims.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Crop Adjuster Proficiency Program Certification (CAPP) must be obtained with 180 days of hire date
  • Reliable personal transportation and travel within territory
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to walk in agricultural fields up to 3 miles
  • Ability to climb agricultural storage bins up to 25 feet
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying temperatures/weather conditions
  • For Crop Claims Field Adjuster I: 6 or more months of experience in the agricultural area
  • For Crop Claims Specialist: 4 or years of experience in the agricultural or the crop insurance industry
  • For Crop Claims Specialist: Travel outside of assigned area to assist with workload(s), participate on CAT team and/or provide remote assistance for the CROP Claims Care Center calls and/or CCP Claims

Responsibilities

  • Completes field inspections and related responsibilities such as reading maps and aerial photos, measuring fields, storage bins, and discussing findings of crop loss with farmers on the most complex non-routine, problematic claims including controversial claims, with minimal supervision.
  • Conveys complex regulations and interpretations to claimants, agents, and industry people on claim situations.
  • Performs fact finding regarding crop damage, records information and transmits loss information to accurately determine potential indemnities.
  • Gathers relevant facts, utilizing applicable law and establishing basic principles of negligence.
  • Completes claim reviews and audits on lower-level adjusters as assigned.
  • Ensures legal compliance by maintaining a strong working knowledge of regulatory and company policies and procedures.
  • Contributes to the team effort by accomplishing related results and participating on projects as needed.
