About The Position

GDIT is seeking an RCDD Engineer to join our Joint Service Provider Enterprise Transport Management - Next-Gen (JSP ETM - NG) program at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA. Due to the nature of work this role entails, telecommuting is not allowed and will require the employee to report full-time onsite. This role is responsible for maintaining the Inside Plant cable infrastructure, including conduit, cable trays, copper, coax, fiber, and all associated elements in the Pentagon, Mark Center, & buildings within the NCR supported by JSP. The engineer must follow JSP and commercial best practice procedures, standards, and/or provide Engineering Installation Plans (EIPs) for installation of cable racks, wiring, and testing. This position also provides O&M support, including performing on-site surveys, developing maintenance plans, and ensuring adherence to EIA/TIA 568A & 568B Standards. The role requires 24/7/365 breakfix support for all Inside Plant cable infrastructure under JSP purview.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret security clearance
  • Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD)
  • High School Diploma
  • 9+ years developing layout and design for technology systems including voice, data, and structured cabling.
  • Must be well versed in BICSI rules, regulations, and standards.
  • Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, EIA, TIA, industry standards and other applicable codes related to the design and layout of IT, low voltage and telecommunications systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Vizio for producing cutsheets and floorplans.
  • Strong knowledge of Structured Cabling Systems from an installation and basic design perspective.
  • Candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively to personnel of various expertise levels.
  • Solid Customer Support Skills in a high visibility environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining the Inside Plant cable infrastructure to include conduit, cable trays, copper, coax, fiber and all associated elements in the Pentagon, Mark Center, & buildings within the NCR supported by JSP.
  • Follow JSP and commercial best practice procedures, standards and/or provide Engineering Installation Plans (EIPs) required for installation of cable racks, wiring of the racks and testing required during installation.
  • Provide O&M support to include an ISP Registered Communications Distribution Designers (RCDD) to support the maintenance and clean-up of 1800 or more Telecommunication rooms at the Pentagon, Mark Center and NCR, and outlying buildings under JSP Operations purview, to include on site surveys, weekly reports denoting survey results (except in extenuating circumstances), develop maintenance plan for corrections and ensure the EIA/TIA 568A & 568B Standard and standards are upheld.
  • Performing 24/7/365 breakfix on all Inside Plant cable infrastructure under JSP purview.
