About The Position

To manage the reliable and cost-effective flow of raw materials (chemicals, packaging, and catalyst) to the manufacturing facilities (Houston, Baytown, Port Arthur and Bayport) to support sales and operation planning process.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree of Arts/Science in Accounting, Purchasing, or business-related field or relevant experience in lieu of college degree
  • 5+ years of related experience, preferably in the chemical industry.
  • Related work experience could include production inventory management, purchasing or accounting.
  • Hybrid job must be in the office 3 days a week. Will office at the Houston and Bayport plant.
  • Must be available after business hours, depending on needs of plant, and support sites as needed.
  • Good organizational, verbal/ written communication, business savvy, problem-solving, math and computer skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Proficiency in math and in utilization of Excel spreadsheets required.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and understand production schedules and raw material usage patterns.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE for tasks as required. FRC uniform, hard hat, safety toe work boots, safety glasses, gloves etc.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage all phases of materials management including the ordering, expediting, receiving, inspecting, storing, protecting, dispensing, returning, and shipping of all materials other than finished products.
  • Key day to day point of contact for raw materials in the Sales, Inventory, and Operation Planning (SIOP) process
  • Manage the scheduling, ordering, expediting, and delivery of raw materials in order to maintain inventories at cost-effective levels sufficient to meet production requirements.
  • Establish safety stock and monthly raw material inventory target levels in conjunction with Purchasing management. Monitor raw material inventory levels to targets and recommend any changes in monthly volumes to meet the inventory targets.
  • Work closely and continuously with supply chain and manufacturing personnel to review and understand their production schedules in order to determine and meet on-going and future raw material requirements.
  • Work closely with suppliers to maintain positive supplier relationships to ensure changes in ability to perform or market conditions are signaled early and that Monument is a preferred customer.
  • Effectively utilize the Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) process as available to determine materials requirements and the optimum timing for placing orders.
  • Establish and adjust raw material lead times, order quantities, and delivery method based on supplier capabilities, pricing considerations and internal production and financial requirements.
  • Understand modes of material transport barge, vessel, rail, FTL, LTL, parcel and associated challenges/ opportunities
  • Support, Cross train, support, and back-up purchasing team as needed.
