The Raw Materials Buyer will be responsible for the procurement of raw materials essential for biopharmaceutical manufacturing, ensuring timely delivery, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to quality standards. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Progressive experience in raw material procurement, preferably within the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industry.
  • Demonstrated experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., CPSM, APICS) is a plus.
  • Experience with risk management and supplier qualification processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Execute procurement activities for a diverse range of raw materials used in biopharmaceutical manufacturing, supporting Lonza Biologics' manufacturing operations.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiating favorable outcomes in various situations.
  • Collaborate closely with Planning, Quality, and Manufacturing departments to understand material requirements, specifications, and production schedules.
  • Manage purchase orders, ensure accurate data entry into ERP systems, and resolve discrepancies with suppliers.
  • Monitor supplier performance against established KPIs, including on-time delivery, quality, and cost, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with all internal procurement policies, procedures, and relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., cGMP).
  • Proactively identify and escalate potential supply chain disruptions or risks, developing contingency plans to ensure continuity of supply.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic sourcing initiatives and long-term supplier agreements.
