About The Position

The Rapid Prototype Production Supervisor manages the schedules and day-to-day operations of a team of artists and reporting production staff in the Rapid Prototype (RP) Department. They are responsible for the maintenance of assigned department/sub-department schedules, documentation of developments, and ensuring adequate RP production and artist coverage on a daily basis.

Requirements

  • 3+ years’ experience in a production management role in feature films; stop motion experience a plus.
  • 1+ years' experience managing a team of artists.
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and monitor R&D and build progress across multiple, interdependent departments.
  • Extensive experience with asset management database software, preferably Flow PT (formerly ShotGrid) and Consilium.
  • Proven project management experience with MS Project and Excel, or similar packages.
  • Base-level knowledge of Photoshop a plus.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
  • Exhibit strong attention to detail, communication skills, great attitude, and work ethic.
  • Must be adaptable and capable of re-prioritizing according to evolving project and studio goals.
  • Capable of motivating and leading teams with enthusiasm.
  • Able to effectively manage shifting priorities within tight deadlines while fostering positive working relationships.
  • Clear planning, problem solving, and analytic skills with an organized and methodical approach to work.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the RP Production Manager and RP creative leadership to create and maintain an up-to-date and accurate RP build schedules and team priority lists, track bids vs. actuals on all RP build tasks, and prioritize tasks on a near-term basis.
  • Collaborate with production staff cross-departmentally on asset deliverables to ensure progress and handovers are clearly tracked and communicated.
  • Collaborate with the RP Production Manager and RP creative leadership to better inform staffing and resource needs.
  • Provide daily priorities and schedule expectations for RP team members, communicating progress to the RP Production Manager and reinforce milestones/deadlines with reporting RP production staff and collaborating artists.
  • Ensure consistent RP creative leadership feedback opportunities are provided and notes and progress are tracked via production reports and Flow PT (formerly ShotGrid).
  • Train and oversee reporting RP Production staff (Coordinators and/or PAs) by providing informed workflows and growth opportunities and ensuring accurate notetaking and dissemination of RP developments to collaborating teams.
  • Ensure and/or provide coverage in the absence of RP Production Manager and RP production staff.
  • Responsible for assessing impact on RP artists from scheduling changes, providing insight on how to adapt to evolving production needs and escalating impact to RP Production Manager to ensure overall goals are maintained.
  • Ensure all RP department meetings are adequately prepared, and notes are captured accurately and distributed quickly.
  • Provide onboarding, training, guidance, and backup/support for RP production staff and ensure assigned RP creative leadership provide the same for their artists.
