About The Position

The Ranger Specialist (Library) is a part-time, temporary position with PERS eligibility, starting at $23.42 per hour. This role supports downtown services at the Escondido Public Library, focusing on maintaining a welcoming, safe, and accessible environment for library visitors and staff. The position involves community engagement, safety awareness, customer assistance, and coordination with library personnel to support daily operations within the downtown library campus.

Requirements

AA degree in parks and recreation management or related discipline
Within nine months of appointment, satisfactory completion of P. C. 832 and First Aid training
Weekend and holiday availability required
Must be available to work all shifts, up to as late as 1:00 a.m.
Ability to read, write and speak English

Experience in park operations may be considered as a substitute for education on a year to year basis

Responsibilities

Patrols downtown Escondido in a City vehicle, enforces City ordinances and library regulations
Prepares and makes oral presentations to library visitors and community groups as required
Prepares written reports on incidents, accidents, and daily logs and activity reports
