About The Position

The Range Safety Officer (RSO) enforces safe firearm handling. RSO is accountable for executing all Range Safety Processes and as such, must pay attention to the range while maintaining a strong mental focus on safety, must be able to perform in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while remaining constantly vigilant to ensure the safety of all guests and Clay County Outdoor Adventure Park staff.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required
  • 4+ years of working on a Gun Range.
  • Willing to attend Range Courses and Safety Courses
  • Valid Florida driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work effectively with others in a team-oriented environment and provide premier customer service.
  • Proven ability to manage and adhere to processes.
  • Ability to interpret and follow instructions.
  • Have critical thinking skills, as well as analytical skills.
  • Functional proficiency with computer programs and systems.
  • The person in this position needs to frequently move about outdoors.
  • Frequently ascends/descends staircase.
  • Constantly positions self to maintain all aspects of the range, including retrieving items from shelves and in small spaces in restrooms.
  • Work with over the counter and industrial strength cleaning chemicals and pesticides; safely dispose of hazardous materials; identify stains and use proper chemicals for their removal; operate manual and power equipment; work effectively in and around the public; perform physical labor; understand and carry out oral and written directions; maintain cooperative working relationships; demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for, a diverse population.
  • Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue, including objects up to 50 pounds in weight.
  • Constant movement and use of limbs; position requires good manual dexterity, coordination and stamina.
  • The position functions frequently in an outdoor environment and is subject to outside environmental conditions, including inclement weather, extreme temperatures and humidity, pollution and dust.
  • Noise level is HIGH.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in the US Military or Law Enforcement preferred
  • Range Safety Officer Certification preferred.
  • Will acquire within 30-days of employment if you do not currently have.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure unwavering control over the safety of all range guests and Clay County Outdoor Adventure Park team members by observing all users and respectfully, but immediately, addressing any behavior that could be considered unsafe.
  • Assist in billing, sales, cash handling, and with membership plans.
  • Enforces all safety range rules and regulations.
  • Must monitor all activity on the range at all times.
  • Assist in all manners pertaining to firing on the range.
  • Safely and effectively handle range experience firearms and customer firearms.
  • Provide concise, and comprehensive range briefings to all range guests.
  • Must be able to communicate in a professional, polite, and respectful manner with all Clay County Outdoor Adventure Park guests.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by the assigned supervisor.
