About The Position

Tryfacta is seeking a Range Master (Safety Sensitive) for our client in Albuquerque, NM 87120. This is a temporary contract assignment. The Range Master is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the City shooting-range park, ensuring the safety of all firearms and archery activities, maintaining range equipment, and supporting daily park operations. This position is safety-sensitive and subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the operation, use, and maintenance of firearms.
  • Must obtain or possess within six (6) months of hire: Valid New Mexico Driver's License
  • Must obtain or possess within six (6) months of hire: City Operator's Permit (COP)
  • Must obtain or possess within six (6) months of hire: Firearms Instructor Certification
  • Must obtain or possess within six (6) months of hire: Archery Instructor Certification
  • Must obtain or possess within six (6) months of hire: CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Firearms and archery safety procedures.
  • Shooting-range equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Basic leadership and supervision principles.
  • Recordkeeping and cash-handling procedures.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make safety-related decisions.
  • Ability to understand and enforce range policies and regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional vocational training (30 credit hours preferred) in firearms operation, firearms safety, or shooting-range equipment maintenance.
  • Shooting-range environment experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, inspect, maintain, and repair shooting range equipment, including skeet/trap machines, propane generators, and compressors.
  • Maintain and clean shooting-range facilities and grounds.
  • Stock trap and skeet houses with required supplies.
  • Prepare and configure ranges for public use, training sessions, and law enforcement qualification testing.
  • Instruct participants on the safe and proper use of firearms and archery equipment.
  • Enforce park rules, regulations, and safety procedures.
  • Monitor shooting-range activities to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Evaluate and assist participants in safe shooting and archery practices.
  • Collect user fees and process payments using a cash register.
  • Issue receipts and assist with daily cash handling and deposits.
  • Respond to public inquiries regarding range operations, services, and regulations.
  • Maintain records, files, and park usage reports.
  • Provide guidance and direction to part-time or assigned staff.
  • Assume supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Shooting Range Manager.
  • Coordinate daily shooting-range operations and participant activities.
