About The Position

Under the direction of the Ranch Manager, The Ranch Coordinator plays a vital role in the success and growth of Morgan's Wonderland Camp ("MWC"). This position will focus on the development and implementation of the high-quality programming operations that help create meaningful and lasting experiences for our campers, guests, staff, and volunteers. As a member of the year-round camp team, this role is responsible for ensuring our horse and nature programs (collectively referred to as “the ranch”) reflect and further the mission and values of Morgan's Wonderland Camp. The Ranch Coordinator will assist the Ranch Manager in the oversight of ranch facilities, nature facilities, volunteers, animals, and programming while creating a community of inclusion, innovation, teamwork, and safety.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in teaching about and caring for animals.
  • Ability to independently oversee camp programming.
  • Commitment to the mission and core values of Morgan's Wonderland, as well as the implementation of these values in all daily work activity is a necessity in this leadership role.
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent experience
  • Must possess high levels of self-motivation and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively across departments, with members of the executive team, board members, and volunteers with confidence and professionalism.
  • Willingness and enthusiasm to work as part of a team; maintain a positive attitude even under stress.
  • Applicable experience working with the special needs population.
  • Ability to delegate appropriate responsibilities involved in day-to-day operations is essential.
  • Ability to work independently in a timely manner.
  • Identify and respond to environmental and other hazards.
  • Ability to recognize and respond to rider and animal behaviors that may lead to emergency situations.
  • Possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of riders, staff, and horses to ensure safety practices are met.
  • Strong riding skills
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work with and lead others.
  • Must be able to capture details and meet deadlines.
  • Must have very good oral and written communication skills and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • A driver's license is required as well as the capacity to drive to various locations with a trailer.

Nice To Haves

  • Horse training experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safeguard the efficient operation of camp programs through thorough and careful review, development, and implementation of program policies and procedures.
  • Assist with the development of ranch curriculum and programming to ensure it meets the goals of MWC.
  • Provide leadership and day to day management of the ranch program area with the purpose of enhancing program operation.
  • Oversee facilitation of camp programming at those times that the Ranch Manager is unavailable.
  • Oversee the creation, review, and retainment of ranch activity procedure manuals and activity related records and reports.
  • Maintain program equipment to be in good repair, and facilities are kept clean.
  • Provide daily care for all MWC animals.
  • Ensure that activity areas meet current ACA standards, Local and State Law, and the Morgan's Wonderland code of standard practice.
  • Obtain appropriate certifications and education level needed for activity areas.
  • Actively support and promote a safe environment and ensure that proper safety precautions are being followed.
  • Participates in on-going professional development and maintains an understanding of current best practices.
  • Coach, instruct and/or consult members of the program staff team regarding the ranch program.
  • Evaluate the need for, prepare, and conduct in-service staff trainings and monitor staff to assess the need for outside or specialized training throughout the year.
  • Cultivate staff morale by monitoring team dynamics and individual needs.
  • Monitor and control systems, practice, and education as it relates to risk management and safety for participants/employees.
  • Provide support to other departments as needed.
  • Attend and participate in employee trainings and meetings.
  • Mitigate risk whenever possible and make safety recommendations to all departments.
  • Any other duties as required.
