About The Position

AST SpaceMobile is building the first and only global cellular broadband network in space to operate directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices based on our extensive IP and patent portfolio and designed for both commercial and government applications. Our engineers and space scientists are on a mission to eliminate the connectivity gaps faced by today’s five billion mobile subscribers and finally bring broadband to the billions who remain unconnected. We are seeking an exceptionally motivated and versatile telecommunication RAN Systems Engineer to join our team. This is not a traditional feature-definition role; instead, it requires a highly skilled professional capable of tackling complex challenges across system engineering, design, and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in cellular technologies and a passion for innovation in satellite network solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years as a System Engineer and at least 5 years in the telecommunications industry.
  • Deep familiarity and understanding of Cellular standards: 4G and/or 5G
  • Cellular standards: 4G/5G
  • System engineering and design tools
  • RF analysis tools
  • Lower-layer protocol understanding
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in documentation and deliverables.
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical abilities under tight deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with satellite communication systems.
  • Familiarity with advanced RAN optimization techniques.
  • Certifications in cellular technologies or RF engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Debug and resolve field issues related to RAN systems and satellite network integration.
  • Guide and support testing teams during validation and deployment phases.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define upcoming solutions for SAT network architecture.
  • Participate in system-level design reviews and ensure compliance with engineering standards.
  • Provide technical leadership in RF and lower-layer protocol analysis.
  • Document processes, findings, and recommendations for continuous improvement.
