Ramp Supervisor
About The Position
The Ramp Supervisor is responsible for overseeing lead agents and allocating ramp agent resources effectively. This role involves the physical movement of cargo and baggage to and from aircraft, as well as transporting it between various airport locations. A key aspect of the job is ensuring that all ramp personnel strictly adhere to company safety regulations. The supervisor also acts as a mentor and trainer for new employees, and may be involved in the full employee lifecycle including interviewing, hiring, training, performance appraisal, and disciplinary actions. Additionally, the role requires completing shift reports, assisting with performance evaluations and disciplinary reports, supporting the baggage handling area, conducting shift briefings, interpreting aircraft loading instructions and manifests, and operating motorized equipment.
Requirements
- Ability to supervise lead agents and allocate resources
- Ability to move cargo and baggage on and off aircraft and transport it
- Knowledge of company safety regulations
- Mentoring and training skills
- Experience with interviewing, hiring, training, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems
- Ability to complete shift reports and sign timecards
- Ability to assist in preparing performance evaluation forms
- Ability to prepare disciplinary incident and/or termination reports
- Ability to assist in the baggage handling area
- Ability to conduct shift briefings
- Ability to read and interpret aircraft weight and balance loading instructions, hazardous material identification labels, aircraft loading manifests, and baggage and cargo routing tags
- Ability to operate motorized equipment
Responsibilities
- Supervise lead agents; allocating ramp agent resources as needed
- Move cargo and baggage on and off aircraft and transport it between aircraft, airport terminals, air cargo facilities, and other aircraft
- Ensure that ramp personnel adhere to established company safety regulations
- Perform as a mentor to other employees and provide training to new employees
- Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems as needed for violations of company policy
- Complete shift reports and sign timecards
- Assist in the preparation of performance evaluation forms
- Prepare disciplinary incident and or termination reports
- Assist in the baggage handling area
- Conduct shift briefings to ensure staff is organized and informed
- Read and interpret aircraft weight and balance loading instructions, hazardous material identification labels, aircraft loading manifests, and baggage and cargo routing tags
- Operate motorized equipment
