About The Position

Road & Rail Services is hiring a dependable Railroad Maintenance & Equipment Technician for our Mulberry, Florida operation. This is a full-time, local position for someone who enjoys working outdoors, operating equipment, and completing hands-on construction and maintenance projects. In this role, you will work alongside an experienced crew to maintain and repair railroad tracks and the surrounding work areas. Each day may involve different assignments, including replacing railroad ties, positioning rail, cutting metal, operating equipment, clearing vegetation, and repairing sections of track. The work is physically demanding and performed outdoors in changing weather conditions. Successful candidates will be comfortable working on uneven surfaces, using hand and power tools, and contributing to a safety-focused team.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work for an entire shift
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Comfortable bending, kneeling, climbing, walking, and standing for extended periods
  • Willing and able to work outdoors in heat, rain, cold, and other changing conditions
  • Dependable attendance and reliable transportation
  • Ability to follow instructions and work safely as part of a crew

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in construction, farming, landscaping, industrial maintenance, railroad work, or heavy equipment operation is preferred
  • Equipment operation or mechanical experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the construction, inspection, maintenance, and repair of railroad tracks
  • Remove and replace railroad ties, rail, and other track components
  • Operate approved construction, maintenance, and material-handling equipment
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and cutting equipment to complete assigned work
  • Lift, carry, position, and secure track materials
  • Clear brush, debris, and vegetation from tracks and designated work areas
  • Inspect tools and equipment before use and report maintenance concerns
  • Maintain an organized and safe jobsite
  • Follow company procedures and all applicable railroad safety requirements
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and other crew members
  • Complete additional track maintenance duties as assigned
