About The Position

North American Rail Solutions (NARS) is seeking motivated individuals to join its team as Trackman I. This entry-level role supports the construction, maintenance, and repair of railroad track systems. The work requires physical stamina, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work outdoors as part of a crew. The role may involve travel to different job sites, weekend and overnight stays, short-notice mobilization, and after-hours or weekend emergency callouts. Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and visual instructions.
Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work independently when needed.
Physical ability to lift up to 100 pounds, climb, kneel, and work in varied outdoor conditions.
Comfort working at heights and in weather extremes, including heat, cold, rain, snow, and sleet.
Willingness and ability to travel to various job sites, including weekend and overnight stays, and mobilize on short notice.
Professionalism, dependability, and willingness to learn new skills.
Ability to respond appropriately to safety signals and warnings and to recognize and report potential hazards.

Prior experience in railroad, heavy construction, or maintenance industries.

Responsibilities

Install and maintain railroad tracks, embankments, and related infrastructure, including special track work, signage, and rail lubrications.
Perform track construction and repair tasks, including replacing rail and ties, adjusting switches, and building track sections.
Operate manual tools such as picks, shovels, and spike mauls, as well as specialized hydraulic or pneumatic equipment.
Conduct visual inspections of track components to identify wear, damage, or safety concerns.
Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment.
Record work performed and report issues or incidents to supervisors.
Respond to after-hours and weekend callouts for emergency track repairs and derailment recovery.
Assist in re-railing train cars and restoring track integrity.
Participate in safety briefings and discuss jobsite hazards and best practices.
Support site setup and cleanup to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
Follow company, federal, state, and local safety regulations, use PPE properly, and report hazards promptly.
Collaborate with crew members and maintain a professional, respectful demeanor on job sites.
Use basic digital tools, such as QR codes and timekeeping systems, as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
