About The Position

Railserve is hiring dependable, safety-focused Railcar Repair Technicians in Indianapolis, IN to support daily rail operations at industrial facilities. This is a full-time, outdoor, hands-on role critical to keeping railcars moving safely and efficiently. Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license (required for FRA-regulated site)
  • Ability to read and understand basic blueprints and perform basic math
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to lift, carry, and handle equipment (up to ~50 lbs)

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of FRA/AAR regulations preferred

Responsibilities

  • Repair or replace defective or worn parts such as valves, hatch covers, components, and gates
  • Inspect railcar components (bearings, seals, wheels, couplers) to determine repair needs
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and ensure proper operation of repaired equipment
  • Record inspection findings and maintenance work performed
  • Remove and install mechanical components using hand tools, hoists, and torches
  • Repair and maintain braking systems
  • Fabricate and install steel or wood fittings using blueprints and manuals
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership
