About The Position

Transco Rail Services, as part of the global industrial organization Marmon Holdings (backed by Berkshire Hathaway), is seeking talented team players to perform all aspects of railcar inspection, maintenance, and repair services. The successful candidate will be responsible for understanding engineering drawings and schematics, making repairs in compliance with FRA and AAR regulations, ensuring company safety and quality standards are met, and maintaining accurate repair records. Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Demonstrate job-related knowledge including following written instructions
Demonstrate an ability to safely operate machinery including, but not limited to large work vehicles, which may also pull trailers from time to time, and forklifts
Be dependable and reliable to show up for scheduled work shifts including any overtime
Ability to learn basic railcar knowledge
Proficiency with the use of basic hand and power tools
Ability to learn basic knowledge of how to read Engineering drawings
Ability to pass DOT Requirements is a plus
Ability to perform confined space entry or monitoring and create hot work permits
Ability to pass any required NDT disciplines and function specific certifications, which may include tank car welding, and demonstrates strong familiarity with AAR rules and regulations
Ability to obtain Welding and Airbrake Test certifications within 6 - 12 months (timeline and required test depend on specific location)
Must be legal to work in the United States now and in the future without sponsorship requirements

Nice To Haves

Any type of welding/mechanical experience or railcar knowledge is a preferred

Responsibilities

Understand and perform all work outlined under Supervision
Conduct railcar inspections to ensure cars comply with all FRA, AAR, and customer requirements
Perform repairs as necessary while always using current safety and quality standards and repair procedures
Perform mechanical repairs to railroad freight cars including tank and hopper cars when required
Occasionally performing welding repairs when needed
Coordinate and complete repairs in an efficient manner and within assigned hours
Maintain work area in a neat and orderly manner and report potential hazards
Notify supervision of any materials and/or equipment required to ensure completion of job tasks
Interact well with team members and supervision
Meet the expectations and requirements of all customers to ensure we deliver a best-in-class customer experience
Ensure all necessary invoicing, inspection, and work order information is accurate and complete
Actively participate in safety assessments and equipment inspections
Follow all safety rules and practices
May be involved in safety committees or initiatives
Perform other duties as assigned
