This position is responsible for maintaining a safe environment and ensuring compliance with all railroad rules, procedures, and regulations for safety, operations, AAR, and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). The role involves repairing, maintaining, and inspecting freight car equipment and automotive pool equipment. Key duties include performing preventative maintenance and repairs on various car components, recording equipment conditions and work performed, and participating in re-railing activities. The mechanic will also operate machinery and tools safely, work effectively in a team environment, and maintain all tools and equipment properly. Effective communication, both written and verbal, is essential, as is the ability to receive and follow written instructions. Tasks can be time-sensitive, and completion in a timely manner is expected. This role may require working various shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, with potential for overtime.
