About The Position

We are hiring a Railcar Mechanic to repair, maintain, fabricate, and weld freight railcars. This hands-on position requires strong mechanical and welding skills, attention to safety, and the ability to work effectively in changing field conditions. The position supports railroad emergency operations and requires 24/7 on-call availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

AWS welding certification required.
Welding and fabrication experience with the ability to perform hands-on repair work.
Working knowledge of freight car components.
Familiarity with the AAR Field Manual.
Knowledge of railroad safety requirements, including Blue Flag Law and FRA standards.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a professional work ethic.
Ability to obtain and maintain required railroad and safety certifications, including: CPR, First Aid, E-Rail Safe, CSX On-Track Safety.

Responsibilities

Repair and maintain freight railcars and related components.
Perform welding and metal fabrication as needed for railcar repairs.
Inspect vehicles, tools, equipment, and materials before and after assignments.
Review work plans and participate in job and safety briefings.
Complete repair and job-related documentation accurately.
Work closely with team members to complete assignments safely and efficiently.
Maintain organized, clean, and properly stocked vehicles, equipment, and work areas.
Communicate professionally with coworkers and customers.
Follow company procedures, railroad safety requirements, and applicable regulations.
Support other job duties as needed based on operational requirements.
