About The Position

STV has an opening for a Rail Vehicle Quality Inspector to work out of a client manufacturing site in Lexington, NC. The ideal candidate will be interested working in manufacturing sites as well as client sites to review Rail Car Systems and quality programs audits of parts suppliers. The Rail Vehicle Quality Inspector we are seeking must possess a minimum of 8 years of experience in the manufacturing and overhaul of Rail vehicles. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting our clients’ requirements throughout the United States and Internationally on major Rail vehicle programs. The inspector must be experienced and knowledgeable in the following areas: Rail Vehicle assembly methods and processes. Jigs, fixtures and production line equipment calibration and control processes. Welding processes and AWS standards. Rail Vehicle testing and witnessing/supporting of such programs. Electrical systems testing including megger, High Potential (Hi Pot) and continuity testing. Corrosion evaluation and associated mitigation plans. Climate chamber testing and witnessing/supporting of such programs. Rail Vehicle subsystems including prime mover, HEP, HVAC, trucks, communications, electrical systems, etc. Quality Assurance and Quality Control programs as they relate to the Rail Vehicle industry. Support of First Article Inspection (FAI) and source inspection requirements. Conducting daily inspections at contractor’s production facility. Conducting supplier audits and preparing associated reports for program management and client. Preparing weekly status reports for program management and client. Familiar with safety requirements and practices of the Rail Vehicle industry. FRA and AAR requirements applicable to Rail Vehicle maintenance and overhaul activities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in the manufacturing and overhaul of Rail vehicles.
  • Experience in Rail Vehicle assembly methods and processes.
