About The Position

STV has an opening for a Rail Vehicle Quality Inspector to work out of a client manufacturing site in Hornell, NY. The ideal candidate will be interested in working in manufacturing sites as well as client sites to review Rail Car Systems and quality programs audits of parts suppliers. The Rail Vehicle Quality Inspector we are seeking must possess a minimum of 8 years of experience in the manufacturing of Rail vehicles. The candidate shall be ASQ CWI certified or equivalent. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting our clients’ requirements throughout the United States and Internationally on major Rail vehicle programs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in the manufacturing of Rail vehicles.
  • ASQ CWI certified or equivalent.
  • Experience in Rail Vehicle assembly methods and processes.
  • Experience in Jigs, fixtures and production line equipment calibration and control processes.
  • Experience in Welding processes and AWS standards.
  • Experience in Rail Vehicle testing and witnessing/supporting of such programs.
  • Experience in Electrical systems testing including megger, High Potential (Hi Pot) and continuity testing.
  • Experience in Corrosion evaluation and associated mitigation plans.
  • Experience in Climate chamber testing and witnessing/supporting of such programs.
  • Experience with Rail Vehicle subsystems including prime mover, HEP, HVAC, trucks, communications, electrical systems, etc.
  • Experience with Quality Assurance and Quality Control programs as they relate to the Rail Vehicle industry.
  • Experience supporting First Article Inspection (FAI) and source inspection requirements.
  • Familiar with safety requirements and practices of the Rail Vehicle industry.
  • Knowledge of FRA and AAR requirements applicable to Rail Vehicle maintenance and overhaul activities.
  • Technical School or Community College Education or equivalent job experience.
  • A minimum of 8 years of inspection experience.
  • Be an ASQ certified welding inspector.
  • Experience Rail Vehicle Systems, and quality control programs and activities.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting daily inspections at contractor’s production facility.
  • Conducting supplier audits and preparing associated reports for program management and client.
  • Preparing weekly status reports for program management and client.
