About The Position

The RROX Aggregates - Rail Transload Aggregates Yard Foreman is a key supervisory role responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost‑effective operation of the Cloverbar Transload Facility and aggregate sales activities. This position oversees day‑to‑day transload operations, supervises and develops facility personnel, coordinates the onsite use and maintenance of equipment, and ensures compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Working closely with supervision and other department staff, the RROX Aggregates - Rail Transload Aggregates Yard ensures quality control, inventory management, and operational efficiency while promoting a strong safety culture and a respectful, productive work environment. Working Conditions: This position requires work outdoors primarily at ourRail Transload Aggregates Yard facility. Work season will run primarily from March to November, with opportunity for extended season or winter work opportunities based on work on hand

Requirements

  • Walk or stand for long periods of time.
  • Work long hours, overtime, and consecutive days as required.
  • Work in a wide range of (adverse) weather conditions.
  • Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, balance, and climb.
  • Occasionally exert moderate to heavy physical effort (handling average weight objects up to 50lbs safely, as part of assisting with normal site activities).
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 (or higher) Driver’s License to operate company vehicles (license permitting) and equipment.
  • Must maintain a driving record that meets Park Paving’s minimum standards for vehicle and equipment operation – 6 or fewer demerits in 3 years, no dangerous driving charges, no DUI charges, etc.
  • Must be proficient in the supervision of a work crew and have strong problem-solving skills (minimum 3 years of supervisory experience within gravel pit, mining, or civil construction).
  • Must have a strong understanding of rail safety, aggregates stockpiling, and aggregates handling, fundamentals and best practices.
  • Must be able to efficiently operate heavy equipment associated with aggregates production and transportation.
  • Must be proficient in the use of common productivity tools (computer, smartphone) and common Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Must have strong attention to detail and numeracy skills, especially when dealing with measurements, and inspections/documentation.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain professionalism even in high-pressure situations with other workers, consultants, or members of the public.
  • Must maintain current certification in the following:
  • IROR
  • Rail Car Mover Operator
  • Track Inspection
  • Intermediate First Aid (or higher)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the efficient day-to-day coordination and direct supervision of crew members, and heavy equipment, in accordance with production timelines and targets for the Cloverbar facility.
  • Daily monitoring of crew productivity. Identifying any issues early and working with your supervisor to address any manpower or equipment needs.
  • Ensuring safe and efficient truck loading on site, includes working with scale and sales staff.
  • Ensuring safe and efficient mobilizations of conveyors within the facility.
  • Working with QC staff to ensure corrections are implemented based on QC results and monitoring piles for segregation and contamination.
  • Managing aggregate stockpiles to maximize space and safe movement of trucks and equipment on site
  • Complete monitoring and inspection of all rail cars prior to loading, unloading, and/or moving.
  • Ensure all supervised staff are following company asset maintenance policies and procedures for heavy mobile equipment, production equipment, and rail cars.
  • Operate equipment or perform labour work associated with the loading/unloading of trucks and railcars, and site maintenance activities (e.g. clean-up), to meet production and delivery targets.
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of daily timesheets, tickets, and other production records.
  • Perform competency evaluations for all related tasks in your work scope on staff under your supervision.
  • Ensure that training and development activities are taking place for workers under your supervision as directed by your supervisors.
  • Ensure that employee performance is continuously and properly managed.
  • Set a positive example for all workers—encourage positive attitudes and crew harmony.
  • Ensure all work on your site is performed in accordance and in compliance with all legislation and company safe work policies and procedures.
  • All inspection, documentation, and other operational reporting requirements for rail operations must be completed in accordance with company policies and procedures, and provincial legislation, without exception.
  • Make sure both you and your crew complete/review daily hazard assessment/toolbox meetings as required (e.g. daily basis at minimum).
  • Make sure both you and your crew are involved in safety inspections, toolbox meetings, monthly site inspections, and discussions of safe work practices and procedures.
  • Support the incident investigation process by leading and completing incident reports for any of your workers involved in an incident.
  • Ensure sites are clean and properly maintained. This includes making sure barricades and machine guarding are in place.
