About The Position

Primarily responsible for directing trains within the rail yard. Their primary responsibility is to control the movement of trains by operating switches. This involves ensuring that trains are properly routed onto the correct track, connecting and disconnecting railcars, and coordinating with the rail operators to ensure the smooth flow of operations.

Requirements

Minimum 2 years rail operations experience, including experience operating a locomotive.
Functional understanding of the processes, procedures, and safety requirements necessary for working in a rail yard and operating a locomotive.
Proficient computer skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Good math, language, and reading skills.
Functional knowledge of a warehouse environment.
Considerate and respectful to coworkers.
Able to follow instructions given for daily tasks.

Nice To Haves

Experience using railcar management and warehouse management systems a plus.

Responsibilities

Directing trains within the rail yard by operating switches.
Ensuring trains are properly routed onto the correct track.
Connecting and disconnecting railcars.
Coordinating with rail operators for smooth operations.
Inspecting tracks and equipment for safety hazards.
Acting as the primary ground spotter for rail king operator when switching railcars.
Working in conjunction with the Rail Lead to complete intra-yard railcar switches to supplement TGS.
Coordinating with Rail Lead to ensure rail equipment is kept in working condition.
Supporting blending and packaging operations during any downtime by connecting hoses, collecting samples, building boxes, etc.
Executing assignments in an accurate, timely, and safe manner.
Performing any additional duties as assigned by the Rail Manager or Operations Manager.
