Supply Chain is a customer-focused Center of Excellence providing industry-leading services while delivering differential value to the business, today and into the future. We separate our Supply Chain functions into several areas; these include logistics, customer fulfillment, services, trade compliance, and support for business processes and systems. As a member of our dynamic Supply Chain team, you will play a critical role in helping us supply our products to a global customer base. In this individual contributor role, you will be responsible for managing LyondellBasell’s empty and loaded Tank car operations and empty and Loaded Tank car inventories to meet customer needs and manufacturing requirements while providing LyondellBasell a competitive advantage in asset utilization and cost management. During a typical day, you will monitor empty car movements and collaborate on traffic plans with Manufacturing, Plant Logistics, and the railroads.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant operations experience, preferably within a logistics, manufacturing, or related industrial environment.
  • The ideal candidate will have working experience in logistics operations, logistics commercial, or manufacturing areas.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of the railroad industry and/or railcar operations.
  • A bachelor's degree is strongly preferred.
  • Must demonstrate effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Willingness to work flexible work schedule, when necessary.
  • High initiative and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Manage empty and Loaded Tank car movements in support of North America Manufacturing operations.
  • Act as a main point of contact for Plant Logistics Specialists, Operations Planners, Manufacturing, Logistics Commercial, and third-party Logistics Service Providers concerning all empty and Loaded Tank car requests.
  • Accountable for empty and Loaded Tank car movements within the railroad network, including closely monitoring availability of empty railcars at manufacturing facilities, Tank car transit times, and railroad performance to meet manufacturing needs.
  • Support asset utilization improvements and rail fleet optimization in collaboration with the Rail Commercial team and the business units.
  • Proactively review and manage empty railcar inventories on-site, while monitoring loaded and total railcar inventories to ensure continuous supply of railcars for loading at Manufacturing facilities and managing within site storage capacity.
  • Divert railcars to/from plants and outside storage or other plants to maintain inventories within targets.
  • Provide economic, financial, and process data necessary to understand and improve rail logistics performance.
  • Demonstrate independent knowledge of the tools used, including, but not limited to Bourque, external railroad website, and related tools.
  • Operate with a solution-oriented mindset regarding process improvements; Assist with change implementation for extended system improvements or other railcar logistics projects.
  • Partner with peers to provide solutions and guidance to resolve railcar or business-related problems.
  • Model LyondellBasell core competencies with internal and external customers/suppliers.
