About The Position

As a Rail Loader with Wallenius Wilhelmsen, you will perform hands-on work preparing railcars and loading or unloading vehicles in a fast-paced environment. You will follow company quality standards and customer requirements while maintaining rail-loading equipment and helping ensure safe operations. Working conditions may vary by location and include indoor and outdoor settings, with possible exposure to extreme temperatures, wetness, wind, fumes, dust particles, and drafts.

Requirements

• Be physically able to safely lift 50 pounds at shoulder level.
• Be able to work within the confined spaces of a railcar and at heights of 20 feet.

Nice To Haves

• Previous rail department or mechanical experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare railcars for shipment by opening and closing railcar doors, setting bridge plates, blowing trash out of railcars, chocking vehicles, and replacing chocks.
• Load and unload vehicles onto railcars in compliance with company quality standards.
• Ensure vehicles are properly spaced within the rail and secure vehicles onto outbound railcars according to customer standards.
• Maintain buck loaders and ramps; lubricate railcars and graphite door tracks, as well as other moving mechanical parts.
• Conduct monthly inspections of bridge plates and paint them as needed.
