About The Position

AWC Operations Canada (AWCC) performs many logistics functions including real-time yard management, data transfers, vehicle locating, dealer delivery, import/export preparations, rail car preparation and switching, rail car loading and unloading, and extensive assembly plant operations. Rail Loaders are responsible for driving customers' finished product onto bi-level and/or tri-level rail cars and securing the vehicles for transportation, as well as shuttling vehicles within the AWCC yard. Requirements

High school diploma, or equivalent
Minimum 1-year heavy labour experience
Ability to drive both automatic and manual transmission vehicles
Valid full G driver's license
Communicate in English; Ability to read, write and interpret documents
Subject to third party Pre-employment Medical Assessment
Subject to Background check including Driver's Abstract and Criminal Record Check
Ability to interact with others effectively and communicate diplomatically
Ability to read, write and interpret documents (e.g., Safety Data Sheets, locations cards, work orders, vehicle identification numbers, etc.)
Ability to effectively react to change and work in a variety of situations
Ability to adhere to quality standards and safe work practices
Ability to work with limited supervision
Ability to use hand tools (e.g., wrench, screwdriver, hammer, etc.)
Good sense of balance, working at a height of approximately 15 ft. above ground
Ability to get in/out of vehicles driver side door with minimal door opening clearance (only 12")
Good visual ability
Good hearing ability

Responsibilities

Ensure all required rail yard safety measures and protections are in place before starting work.
Install and remove bridge plates between the rail cars as required.
Move, position, stage, and load vehicles within the yard and railcars in accordance with established procedures.
Park and stage vehicles following established quality standards.
Safely perform vehicle loading and unloading activities.
Secure vehicles for transport using approved methods, equipment, and quality standards.
Safely access, move throughout, and exit railcars, including climbing ladders and working at elevated heights as required.
Conduct pre-use inspections of loading equipment and report any issues or concerns.
Check vehicles for damage and report findings to a Supervisor or Manager.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized working environment, this includes tooling, work vans, rail yard, etc.
Work and communicate effectively with team members and supervision to support daily operations.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
