About The Position

The Rail Loader Lead is responsible for leading daily rail operations while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company procedures, customer and AAR requirements. GLOVIS America, Inc. is a third-party logistics provider headquartered in Irvine, CA. Requirements

  • H.S Diploma/G.E.D Required
  • Valid state driver's license Required
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing ability to read and write
  • Ability to interpret and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to record and verify numbers and characters in length
  • Ability to work independently and in crew settings
  • Ability to work in confined quarters
  • Ability to drive both automatic and standard shift vehicles
  • Ability to adapt to changing operational priorities and business needs

Responsibilities

  • Follow rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Lead and coordinate daily rail loading activities.
  • Assign work task and ensure employees understand daily objectives.
  • Conduct pre-shift safety meeting and reinforce safe work practices.
  • Perform inspections of railcars, bridge plate, and loading ramps.
  • Report safety concerns, equipment issues, and operational delays to management.
  • Perform inspection to ensure vehicles are properly choked and secured.
  • Operate the loading ramp (Buckloader) safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure all employees are wearing the required PPE before beginning work and throughout the shift.
  • Scan vehicles accurately using Iveles system.
  • Load vehicles onto railcar according to rail loading procedures.
  • Safely operate company vans to transport employees throughout the facility and designated locations.
  • Ensure all routes used are within safety standards, if any issues you are to report these hazards immediately to your reporting supervisor and/or manager.
  • Lead and support daily rail operations to ensure efficiency and productivity.
  • Report all violations to the supervisor
  • Ensure timely escalation of employee relations (ER) complaints, concerns, and policy violations to Supervisor/Manager upon becoming aware of, observing, or -receiving reports of such matters.
  • Remove Ibolts from vehicles in accordance with established procedures.
  • Install bridge plates between railcars.
  • Perform lot consolidation according to vehicle handling procedures.
  • Maintain clear, effective, and professional communication.
  • Follow and carry out supervisor and management instructions in a timely manner.
  • Obey all OSHA, FRA, AAR, Hyundai Glovis transportation manual, local and State guidelines and regulations
  • Ascend and descend railcars, loading ramps, and equipment using three-point contact.
  • Respond quickly to transportation delays, incidents, or operational challenges.
  • Promote a positive, safety-focused, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Report all accidents, unsafe conditions, policy violations, and unprofessional behavior to management.
  • Write down record railcar numbers
  • Spot and park vehicle inside railcars
  • All other operational tasks as assigned by supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned
