About The Position

Interstate Waste Services is hiring experienced Rail Engineers to support its rail operations team. This is a consistent full-time overnight position scheduled Monday through Friday, 7:30 PM to 6:00 AM, at $25.08 per hour. Overtime is paid after 40 hours. The Rail Engineer operates locomotives and supports rail yard operations while following Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and company safety requirements. Requirements

At least 1 year of rail engineer, locomotive operator, or railroad experience.
High school diploma or GED.
Ability to use tablets, computers, and electronic reporting systems.
Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
Ability to sit for an extensive period of time.
Strong safety record and attention to detail.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

Background in railroad operations, short-line rail, locomotive engineering, rail switching, yard operations, FRA compliance, or heavy industrial operations.

Responsibilities

Operate locomotives safely and efficiently in accordance with FRA and company regulations.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip locomotive inspections.
Switch rail cars throughout the yard to support daily operations.
Observe and communicate radio, lantern, and hand signals.
Monitor track conditions and report concerns.
Inspect rail equipment and train movements for safe operation.
Ensure compliance with FRA, OSHA, and company safety standards.
Assist with rail yard operations and perform other duties as assigned.
