About The Position

Transco Rail Services is seeking an Entry-Level Repair Technician to perform basic repairs on rail cars. This role involves repairing metal or other weldable materials according to specifications, working in a team environment, and establishing good working relationships. The position is hourly, starting at $24.39, and operates on a First Shift, Monday through Friday schedule from 06:30 a.m. to 03:00 p.m. The company is part of Marmon Holdings, backed by Berkshire Hathaway, and emphasizes making a positive impact, providing learning opportunities, and fostering an empowering culture.

Requirements

• Stick welding - required.
• Read specifications, shop drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
• Knowledgeable or willing to learn how to perform air brake test.
• The ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
• The ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
• The ability to lift 50 pounds with proper body mechanics.
• Ability to work within a teamwork environment with regular and predictable attendance.
• Able to pass drug screen, physical.

• Mechanical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic repairs on rail cars.
• Repair parts of metal or other weldable materials according to layouts, work orders, blueprints, schematics, and sketches.
• Perform a variety of rail car repair related tasks.
• Work in a TEAM environment and establish good working relationships at all levels.
• Use a variety of tools and equipment such as pneumatic and hydraulic tools, grinders, jacks, welders, cutting torches, forklifts, and cranes.
• Perform stick welding.
• Read specifications, shop drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
• Perform air brake tests (or be willing to learn).
• Keep materials area and other work areas clean and orderly.
• Report potential hazards.
