Produces radiographs of various anatomical parts and systems for diagnostic purposes as directed by the radiologist. This role involves collecting pertinent patient data, verifying physician orders, and determining the optimal imaging procedure. The technologist will explain procedures to patients, ensure consent, and assess for contraindications. They will select appropriate shielding, administer contrast agents (if applicable) following guidelines, and monitor patients for adverse reactions. The primary goal is to obtain optimum images by setting and adjusting radiographic equipment, positioning patients, and sending images to PACS for interpretation. Documentation of patient care, exam details, and history in appropriate systems is crucial. The role also includes coordinating with other departments for timely procedures, managing equipment, performing daily quality control, and ensuring adequate supplies. Other duties as assigned.
