The Radiology Technologist operates X-ray equipment to produce radiographs of specified body parts. This role involves performing quality control checks and maintaining necessary documentation. Key responsibilities include explaining examinations to patients in simple terms to alleviate anxiety, conducting various X-ray exams according to established departmental standards, and accurately positioning patients. The technologist is also responsible for identifying and promptly reporting any patient motor abnormalities, such as fainting or contrast reactions, to the Radiologist. Additional duties include operating equipment for image transfer to film and digital archiving, using film markers to correctly label images (right/left), ensuring images are clearly labeled with the correct date and patient identification, inputting patient history and relevant information from requisitions, and setting up immobilization and supportive devices for patients.
